Emily Moritz

Emily Moritz is one of the co-creators of this course and a passionate birth professional with over a decade of experience supporting families. Her journey into the world of birth began ten years ago during her own pregnancy with her daughter—a time she describes as both deeply transformative and profoundly inspiring. What started as a personal experience quickly evolved into a calling to support others as they navigate pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood.

Since then, Emily has educated and supported more than 200 families, guiding them through their unique journeys with compassion, evidence-based information, and a deep respect for individualized birth experiences. Through this work, she recognized a growing need for childbirth education that feels accessible, relatable, and truly supportive—something she wished had been available during her own pregnancy.

This realization led to the creation of Balance Birth, a course designed to reach families beyond her immediate community and provide meaningful, empowering education on a broader scale. Built alongside her best friend and business partner, Balance Birth reflects Emily’s commitment to making high-quality birth education available to families everywhere.

Outside of her work, Emily can often be found spending time with her daughter, Harper, whom she affectionately calls her mini best friend. Together, they share a love for adventure and animals. Their lively home includes four goldendoodles, a cat, and a bunny—making life full, busy, and full of love. Emily is also a devoted coffee enthusiast and is rarely seen without a cup in hand.

Emily Heymann is a Southern California native, birth doula, childbirth educator, and mother of three children. After spending formative years in Washington, D.C. and New York City, she returned home to Southern California, where she now lives with her husband, kids, and dogs.

Emily’s own births were among the proudest and most transformative days of her life, and becoming a mother continues to shape both who she is and how she supports others. Her work is rooted in helping women feel informed, supported, and deeply seen as they prepare for birth and step into motherhood.

Becoming a birth doula was a natural extension of her own experience as a mother. For years, she has supported families of all backgrounds- including low-income families, single mothers and teen mothers and believe’s firmly that every birthing person deserves to feel heard, connected to their body, and confident that their voice matters.

She believes science and soul can belong in the same room and that families deserve support that honors both.

Outside of birth work, Emily loves singing, cooking, deep friendships, live music, going to Disneyland, and carves out weekly beach time as a form of self-care.
